The figure, which was revealed in the ‘Electricity Consumption and Renewable Electricity Generation in Northern Ireland: Year ending December 2016’ report means a 15% increase is needed for the region to reach its 2020 target 40%. The figure also indicates no change on the previous 12 month period (January 2015 to December 2015), while the amount generated by wind power has dropped from 89.6% in 2016, to 82.6% last year.
