You can watch the Northern Lights from the comfort of your own home - here’s how

If seeing the Northern Lights in all their glory is currently on your bucket list - but you’re finding yourself limited due to current restrictions - then there are ways you can see the beauty of the Aurora Borealis from the comfort of your own home.

Viewing the breathtaking Northern Lights is high up on many people’s to-do list, whether this be in Finland, Iceland, Norway or further afield.

But if you feel you’re missing out on seeing them, then there are numerous ways you can see what they have to offer without stepping outside of your front door.

How can I watch the Northern Lights from home?

There are a variety of websites, live cams and apps that allow you to watch the Northern Lights from home.

Explore.org offers you the opportunity to watch the Northern Lights from a wide array of destinations, without having to leave your house.

You can view the Northern Lights from a variety of locations in Iceland, Alaska, Canada, Norway, Sweden and Finland, so there’s plenty of places to choose from.

The camera is a collaboration between explore.org, Polar Bear International (PBI) and Churchill Northern Studies Centre.

The website says, “Located at the Churchill Northern Studies Centre in Churchill, Manitoba, this live cam is located directly underneath the aurora oval - one of the best places on earth to watch the aurora borealis, the spectacular atmospheric phenomenon better known as the Northern Lights.”

Explore.org also explains that late winter and early spring are the best times to see the aurora.
